Read a personal narrative of our customer who’s been using Boost Fin for unconventional purposes, apart from paddleboarding.
My name is Lee and here’s my story. I’m 68 years old, and I’ve been retired for 8 years. I live in Pennsylvania, close to Lake Erie. For over 40 years, I’ve windsurfed and done kite skis and I’ve also been flying kites. A while ago, I got a paddle board from my friend who owned a kite store, and that’s where it all started.
A couple of years ago, I saw a Facebook ad promoting Boost Fin. So, I thought, oh that’s interesting, I could put that on my paddle board. And I did so. I put the Fin on the board and I’ve been using it to surf and paddle creeks and lakes. I do use it in conventional ways sometimes, but that’s not why I bought it in the first place. The reason I got it is because of another hobby that I have – and that’s doing soap bubbles while paddleboarding.
The idea to do bubbles on my paddleboard came to me maybe three or four years ago. That’s when I learned how to set everything up. I put my 5-gallon bucket on the nose of the paddle board with some no-slip material to keep the bucket in place. Then I have a 3-foot post in the middle of the board to manage my two bubble wands and paddle. So I stand in the middle of the board and I use large poles to dip them in the bucket and do the bubbles.
Here, the Boost Fin becomes especially handy in the times in summer when we don’t have any wind at all. No wind – no bubbles, right? That’s where the Fin helps me most. I usually mount the Fin on the board and set it up in a way that it moves backward. Here I am – now I have my wind and I am also in control of my speed. It’s just perfect! I also like a remote that I put on my hand so I can easily turn it on and off – it’s quite convenient. I can even do 360-degree bubbles when the Fin starts spinning. I just make sure to be careful and keep the balance here.
When I do the whole setup, it looks really beautiful. I also turn on the music with my waterproof speaker, and it all turns into the entire performance on the water. Well, I think that’s how people see it as they pass by, taking pictures and cheering. They always tell me how great it is and everything, and to me, it’s heartwarming to hear so.
That said, I am truly a happy customer of Boost Surfing. It’s helped me unleash my creativity and realize the idea that I’d been thinking about for a long time! Right now, I am thinking of going further and flying a kite from the paddleboard, but that’s in the experimental stage at the moment. Let’s see how it goes!
